To calculate the earnings per share (EPS) growth rate, subtract EPS for the prior year from EPS for the year just ended. Divide the result by the prior year EPS and multiply by 100 to convert to a percentage. You can do this for individual companies as well as the using the average EPS of the S&P 500. The S&P earnings per share growth rate was 9.13% on March 31, 2021.
