Technically called the CBOE Silver ETF Volatility Index, it’s a proxy for the volatility of the price of silver. It is calculated in similar fashion to the CBOE Gold Volatility Index, using the CBOE Volatility Index and the price of silver ETFs. It attempts to predict the 30-day volatility of silver prices in real time. Silver pricing is a factor of industrial and fashion demand as well as the price of the US dollar.
